Harry Styles – “Sign of The Times” Debut Single

Harry Styles has premiered his debut single Sign of The Times in a 2 hour long feature as part of Nick Grimshaw’s BBC Radio 1 show.

Sign of The Times is a rock ballad which suits Harry’s vocals perfectly, building on the rockier One Direction songs which he shone on. It’s a massive song but probably not what people expected as Harry’s debut single. It’s probably the type of song that will do extremely well if it catches on and gives Harry a new audience.

Halsey – “Now Or Never” New Single & Video

Halsey has released her first single Now Or Never from her upcoming second album hopeless fountain kingdom.

Now Or Never sounds like more of the same from Halsey’s debut Badlands. It was produced by Benny Blanco, Cashmere Cat and Happy Perez. It also sounds a bit too similar to I’m A Ruin by Marina And The Diamonds and Needed Me by Rihanna.

Now Or Never is not what I expected for the first single after the success of CloserHalsey’s massive collaboration with The Chainsmokers last year. At best Now Or Never is an album track. Hopefully hopeless fountain kingdom has more single worthy material on it.

As well as releasing the single, Halsey premiered the video too.

Louisa Johnson – “Best Behaviour” Video Premiere

Louisa Johnson has released the video for Best Behaviour, the second single to be taken from her forthcoming debut album.

The video for Best Behaviour was shot in a desert outside L.A. at an airplane graveyard. It doesn’t look too different to S Club 7’s Hollywood 7 video for Show Me Your Colours which was shot at the same location in 2001.

After initially not thinking much of the song, Best Behaviour has become a grower and now with the video too I think this is one of the best songs of 2017 so far.

Nelly Furtado – “The Ride” Album Breakdown

Nelly Furtado releases her 6th studio album The Ride tomorrow, March 31st. Released independently through her own record label Nelstar, The Ride sees Nelly experiment with a new sound while still sounding like a Nelly Furtado album.

All 12 tracks on The Ride are produced by John Congleton. The vocal production and Nelly’s singing style are a lot less grating than 2012’s Spirit Indestructible which often verged on screeching.

The highlights are Carnival Games, Magic, Arlissa cover Sticks And Stones and closing ballad Phoenix which was the first track Nelly recorded for the album and shows off a different singing style for Nelly.

Here’s a breakdown of the tracks:

Cold Hard Truth
Flatline
Carnival Games
Live
Paris Sun
Sticks And Stones
Magic
Pipe Dreams
Palaces
Tap Dancing
Right Road
Phoenix

Little Mix – “No More Sad Songs” Video Premiere

Little Mix have premiered the video for No More Sad Songs – the third single to be taken from their fourth album Glory Days.

The video is set in an American country bar where the girls turn up looking completely out of place but end up dancing on the bar Coyote Ugly style and riding on a mechanical bull. Machine Gun Kelly shows up and actually made the effort to be on set at the same time as Little Mix.

While not much happens in the video, it’s shot really well and it’s a lot of fun – it’s so much better than the disastrous Touch video.
