Amelia Lily – “You Bring Me Joy” Music Video

Amelia Lily’s music video for her debut single, You Bring Me Joy, has premiered on VEVO.

You Bring Me Joy was shot in L.A. with Amelia driving around with friends. While it’s not the most eventful video since most of it consists of shopping, spraying a guy with water guns and dancing on the beach, it doesn’t look like a debut video.

Amelia comes across very self-confident and convincing, especially in her scenes on the beach. The video is also edited well and suits the tone of the song.

You can watch the video for You Bring Me Joy below:

You Bring Me Joy is out on September 2nd followed by Amelia’s debut album later this year.

Little Mix – “Wings” Music Video

The music video for Little Mix’s debut single Wings (not counting their X Factor winners single), premiered today.

The video is very Cher Lloyd. By that I mean it’s clearly aimed at a young audience and features a lot of colourful cartoon squiggles and lines layered on top of the video. Cher Lloyd’s Swagger Jagger had similar effects.

The video comes across quite amateurish, which is allowed considering it’s a debut single but the girls seemed a lot more established and experienced on The X Factor and this doesn’t come across in the video. They also came across much more mature on The X Factor. However, it’s nice to see a girlband’s debut video for the first time and already know who they are and what kind of personalities they have, and the video manages to get this across.

You can watch the video for Wings below:

Wings is finally going to be released in the UK on August 19th. For such an important release for the girls, this single campaign has really been dragged out.

After initially not being too impressed with Alphabeat’s new single Vacation, over time it has grown on me. Last night Alphabeat performed a mash-up of Vacation and The Spell at the final of the Danish X Factor along with finalist Line.

Seeing Vacation live with a big production really made the song click with me fully.

You can watch the performance below:

Vacation is available now from iTunes worldwide.

Diana Vickers Leaves RCA Records

Diana Vickers has parted ways with her record label, RCA Records, months after she started recording material for her second album.

Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree, Diana’s number one debut album, failed to sell what RCA had expected even after trying to rescue the album campaign by releasing a brand new song during The X Factor last year. The single, My Wicked Heart, failed to become a success following an X Factor performance and plans to re-release the album were scrapped in favour of moving onto its follow up.

Diana announced the news via her Tumblr:

yo guys! I just want to let you know what the crack is at the moment down in the vickers camp. Myself and RCA have decided to part company, purely based on a creative level. I will always be really thankful for the time we’ve spent together and the support they’ve given me. But, I’ve grown up a lot since the first album and whilst the past couple years have been a lot of fun and a great success, I’m now ready to take a wander down a different, very exciting path! In order to grow, this change has to be made.

I’m so proud of where the second album is right now and I’m counting down the minutes until it’s all ready and you guys can finally hear it! I’ve been having the best time over the past 6 months- being creative, working with so many inspirational people, falling in love with LA and growing as an artist.

I just got back from the INCREDIBLE Arcade Fire gig at Hyde park they bloody rocked it. Up early for studio tomorrow so need my rest ! Love always to all my amazing fans. Diana xx

leave you with this

It seems RCA have let Diana keep the new tracks she recorded, in order to take them with her to her new label which has yet to be revealed.

Hopefully the new album will be of the same standard as her debut and manages to find much more success.
