the-saturdays-disco-loveThe Saturdays’ new single for Disco Love premiered this morning on Capital FM. Disco Love is the 3rd single from their upcoming 5th studio album which is expected to be released in October.

Disco Love was produced by Icelandic producers StopWaitGo. It has a modern, feel-good, disco sound and completely different to the previous two singles from this album campaign. There are similarities to Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Alphabeat’s The Spell, especially on the chorus. Overall, Disco Love is very instant and could potentially be another big hit for The Saturdays.

Frankie is the only member with no solos, possibly due to her pregnancy as she won’t be around during promotion for this single.

Alphabeat – “Love Sea”

Alphabeat’s new single Love Sea has been released on iTunes. It’s the second single to be taken from their third studio album Express Non-Stop.

Love Sea continues in the direction of previous single Vacation. It’s very pop with strong catchy melodies with a chorus that will get stuck in your head for hours. The song starts off at mid-tempo with a sample from the intro of The Who’s Baba O’Riley before Stine and Anders SG begin to sing harmonies throughout the first verse. Stine’s perfectly pop voice blends so well with Anders SG’s and sounds amazing on top of quite a simple backing track. The track fades to silence at the end of the verse and then breaks into an uptempo pre-chorus.

Lyrically, Love Sea is very simple with lines such as:

1, 2, 3 you’re in love with me
Woah, woah, it’s imagination
3, 4, 5 away we dive
Woah, woah, woah

and

Come on closer, come on close to me
Jump on in, jump in the sea
Jump on in, jump with me
Jump on in the love sea with me

But with such a catchy melody, the simple lyrics only help keep the song embedded in your mind for hours after you listen to it.

As I said before, the chorus reminds me of Whitney Houston’s How Will I Know which isn’t a bad thing because it really suits the song.

The overall sound of the Love Sea is 80’s and 90’s pop with polished production. While Alphabeat may have moved away from the electronic sounds of their previous album, this new direction is exactly what Alphabeat is all about and now I’m really looking forward to hearing what they’ve come up with for the album.

Alphabeat’s second single Love Sea, from their yet to be untitled third studio album, is set to be released on iTunes on August 13th. The band uploaded a small preview of Love Sea to their website earlier today.

You can listen to the clip of Love Sea below:

From the clip it sounds like it’s going to be a really catchy song. It reminds me of Whitney Houston’s How Will I Know melodically. Both Love Sea, and first single Vacation, have me very excited for their new album.

Alphabeat – “Vacation” Music Video

Alphabeat’s video for their new single Vacation premiered today. The video is set in an airport with the band members performing the song while air hostesses dance.

For a video that doesn’t have the biggest budget, Alphabeat made the most of their resources and managed to pull off quite a cool video. It’s very 80’s visually and very Alphabeat.

The song itself has grown on me so much and if another label picks the band up in the UK, they could have a big summer hit on their hands – “Fascination big”.
