Miley Cyrus – “Wrecking Ball” Video Premiere

Miley Cyrus’ video for Wrecking Ball has premiered on VEVO. Wrecking Ball is the second single to be taken from her upcoming studio album Bangerz.
The video for Wrecking Ball is very literal – it has a wrecking ball in it. However, Miley’s riding the wrecking ball half-naked and then later naked. Like We Can’t Stop, Wrecking Ball is another attempt at creating media controversy and attention seeking to prove that she’s not Disney Miley anymore. Miley’s seen wearing “clothes” similar to the We Can’t Stop video and licking a sledge hammer in between riding the wrecking ball. The head shot scenes are actually decent and prove that the video could’ve been a lot more tame and effective, similar to Demi Lovato’s Heart Attack, if Miley wasn’t screaming for attention. Overall, the video doesn’t detract from what a great song Wrecking Ball is.

Katy Perry has released a teaser for her music video for Roar via VEVO. The video is set in the jungle with a Tarzan/Jane theme. Katy’s seen swinging through the jungle at the end.

Katy Perry: “Dark Horse” or “Walking On Air”?

Katy Perry has teamed up with MTV and Pepsi to ask fans to vote between two songs called Walking On Air and Dark Horse to be released before her new album Prism drops. At the moment Dark Horse is winning but I’m hoping Walking On Air catches up because I think it’s the better of the two.
Walking On Air is very 90’s dance with care-free, cool vocals from Katy. The falsetto during the chorus line “I’m walking on air” is such a strong hook that it’s stuck on repeat in my head. While some have called the song faceless, I think it’s typical Katy with hints of Hummingbird Heartbeat emerging from the melody. Take a listen to Walking On Air below:
Dark Horse is a ballad and the preview is building up to what sounds like the track dropping out before a breakdown. However, for me, the song feels ruined by the ridiculous Dr. Luke Ooh La La vocoder used just before the breakdown. It’s completely unnecessary and ruins a potentially great song. Katy Perry – “Roar” New Single

Katy Perry’s new single Roar leaked two days early. Roar is written by Katy, Bonnie McKee and Henry Walter and produced by Dr Luke, Max Martin and Cirkut. It’s a progression from Katy’s previous album Teenage Dream as it’s not as colourful but at the same time it’s not as dark as expected.
There’s been plenty of comparisons online of Roar and Sara Bareilles’ song Brave, but while there are similarities, Roar has a lot of differences that make it more anthemic.
The lyric video for Roar is also very creative, using Whatsapp and Emoji icons to display the lyrics. Check it out below:
