I’ve made another Muzic Junkie mashup. This time it’s a mashup of The Saturdays’ What About Us and Kelly Clarkson’s Catch My Breath. Both songs fit perfectly over each other (if only the acapella was better quality).

Take a listen below:

Maroon 5 & Avril Lavigne – “Smilephone”

Plenty of songs are recycled over and over by producers and given to different artists with new lyrics. Examples of this are Dr. Luke with About You Now by Sugababes and My Life Would Suck Without You by Kelly Clarkson, Ryan Tedder with Kelly Clarkson’s Already Gone and Beyconcé’s Halo, Dr. Luke with P!nk’s U + Ur Hand and The Veronicas’ 4ever.

The latest of the bunch is Shellback recycling his track Smile by Avril Lavigne and turning it into Payphone by Maroon 5.

I’ve created a mashup of the two. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get my hands on the official vocal track for Smile but it still shows how easily Smile and Payphone fit together. You can listen to it below:

Kelly Clarkson has recorded a new song for Pepsi Anthems for Dallas Cowboys called Get Up. The track, while not being lyrically about anything other than “wanting to be a cowboy”, is actually pretty good and would fit in well on her current album Stronger. It’s also a free download.

P!nk has collaborated with Lily Allen

P!nk has collaborated with Lily Allen on her upcoming album The Truth About Love. In an interview with Carson Daly, P!nk confirmed the collaboration. Lily Allen also retweeted a number of tweets about the duet. This will be Lily’s first work since coming out of retirement.

P!nk told Carson Daly:

For the last 14 years, everyone has said no [to collaborations]. But this album, everyone said yes! And I think that’s because people think I’ve softened. I think people maybe think I bite!

It’s an interesting collaboration because P!nk and Lily Allen are probably the last people I would’ve expected to duet. I would’ve expected a P!nk and Kelly Clarkson collaboration before this. But in a way this could be a bit amazing since they’re both two of the best lyricists in pop.

The collaboration possibly came about because P!nk and Lily have both been working with Greg Kurstin. Greg produced P!nk’s lead single from The Truth About Love, Blow Me (One Last Kiss), so the two would’ve both been in the studio with Greg around the same time.

The Truth About Love is out September 18th.
