avrillavigne_PhotoAvril Lavigne’s new album track 17 has leaked onto the internet. The track is rumoured to be a single at some point during her self-titled album campaign. Avril has performed the track live on a couple of occasions.

17 is a throwback track to Avril’s youth. The song wouldn’t sound out of place on Avril’s debut album Let Go. It also wouldn’t sound out of place on a Taylor Swift album. It’s a country-pop song with a chorus melody that radio will eat up if it’s released as a single. It’s co-written by Avril and Jacob Kasher Hindlin and produced by Martin Johnson (Boys Like Girls).

Take a listen to 17 below:

Avril Lavigne’s self-titled fifth studio album will be released on November 5th.

Avril Lavigne has reluctantly revealed that her self-titled 5th studio album has been pushed back to November 5th. Instead of being released on September 24th, the album will now be available for pre-order on that date.

Avril also revealed the track listing for the album:

  1. Rock N Roll
  2. Here’s To Never Growing Up
  3. 17
  4. Bitchin’ Summer
  5. Let Me Go (featuring Chad Kroeger)
  6. Give You What You Like
  7. Bad Girl (featuring Marilyn Manson)
  8. Hello Kitty
  9. You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet
  10. Sippin’ On Sunshine
  11. Hello Heartache
  12. Falling Fast
  13. Hush Hush

Avril has co-written every track on the album with Chad Kroeger, David Hodges, Peter Svensson, Rickard Goransson, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, Martin Johnson and Matt Squire. None of the tracks which Avril recorded with Alex Da Kid or The Runners made the album. Prior to the release of her previous album Goodbye Lullaby, Avril stated that she had two albums worth of material and had considered releasing Goodbye Lullaby as a double album. She also considered releasing two back-to-back albums as her 5th and 6th studio albums. So there’s more than a whole album worth of unreleased tracks that didn’t make this album. Hopefully some of those tracks make it onto a deluxe edition.

Avril Lavigne – “Rock N Roll” Video Premiere

Avril-Lavigne-Rock-N-RollAvril Lavigne’s video for Rock N Roll, the second single from her upcoming self-titled album, premiered earlier today on VEVO. Rock N Roll is another Martin Johnson (Here’s To Never Growing Up) track which Avril co-wrote with Chad Kroeger and David Hodges. The video is hilarious with some clever dialogue and the best product placement ever seen in a music video.

The video is comic book themed and Avril stars alongside Danica McKellar and Billy Zane. The video also has a throwback to Sk8er Boi at the start where Avril is explaining the lyrics on her “new Sony phone”.

Rock N Roll is out August 27th.

Avril Lavigne – “Here’s To Never Growing Up” Music Video

Avril Lavigne’s new video for Here’s To Never Growing Up premiered today. While the video is a typical band performance video with a few other scenes thrown in, the most interesting thing about the video is Avril’s self-awareness.

Like the song, the video also demonstrates further how Avril knows very well that both her music and style are much younger than her actual age. She looks like she hasn’t aged a day since 2007. But the video pushes that even further and points out that Avril really hasn’t aged much since even 2002. Halfway through the video, the “Sk8er Girl” Lavigne, nostalgically skates down a school hallway dressed in her signature tie, tank top, knee-length jeans combination that she was known for during her debut album days. If you didn’t know Avril is 28, you’d easily mistake her for her 16 year old self she’s portraying. This scene also points out what a good greatest hits single Here’s To Never Growing Up could’ve been.

The video itself could’ve been much better than a band performing at a high school prom. I always imagined it would be an summer night party in a park with Avril performing the song sitting on a park bench surrounded by her friends while raising an actual cup instead of the cup raising hand gesture seen in the actual video.

Avril Lavigne – “Here’s To Never Growing Up” (Clip)

Avril Lavigne has released an 11 second clip of her forthcoming single Here’s To Never Growing Up. The track was produced by Martin Johnson (Boys Like Girls).

While the title couldn’t be more Avril Lavigne if it tried, the sound is different to Avril’s previous lead singles Girlfriend and What The Hell. For one, she’s not singing high pitched chants anymore which hopefully signals a more mature direction. But still, we’ve only heard 11 seconds so that might not be true for the rest of the song.

You can listen to Here’s To Never Growing Up below:

This is Avril’s second single (first album campaign) to be handled by Epic Records since she left RCA at the end of 2011. LA Reid has overseen the creation of the upcoming fifth album which will hopefully see a return to commercial success for Avril.

Here’s To Never Growing Up will be released to iTunes on April 9th.
